Unique color combinations
... now it is turning toward
a trend of using more
toned down shades.

n the past bold colors were dominating the palette, but now it is turning toward a trend of using more toned down shades. Inspirations for red and orange hues from Sherwin Williams paint include Enticing Red SW 6600, which evokes a lush tropical flower. Also, the sweetness of pink is evident in Insightful Rose SW 6023 and Zany Pink SW6858. An orange toned-down hue can be found in Tigereye SW 6362. If you desire a violet/blue combination you might try Plum Dandy SW 6284 or Quench Blue SW 6785. Yellow/Green color toned-down hue inspirations are found in Daffodil SW 6901and Grandiose SW6404. Neutral tones are always helpful to have as a palette. Some neutrals to try by Sherwin Williams are Wool Skein SW6148 and Gauntlet Gray SW 7019.

Designers are able to use a very broad array of unique color combinations this season that will result in distinct, yet cohesive color palettes. The Fall 2009 palette recognizes
the basic desire to incorporate vibrant color to attract consumers’ eyes and entice them to buy. A patriotic-balanced true red is one of these color options; Radish SW 6861 is a wonderful feel-good color. African Violet SW 6982 creates a sense of excitement, especially paired with Radish SW 6861. A warm color Tassel SW6369 carries through to the fall and winter with its golden tones. If you pair the golden yellow Tassel SW6369 with purple color African Violet SW 6982. It will definitely add flair. You can also pair Tassel SW 6369 with Peppery SW 6615. The “new black” is a strong yet understated color that is neither gray nor brown. You can easily use this to anchor any space.
