Thank you for choosing the Houston Remodeling Guide as a resource for your remodeling needs. You have made a very wise choice. The members of the Greater Houston Builders Association Remodelors Council are committed to quality and customer service. You should find the right contractors and suppliers for your project within these pages and through the Remodeler’s Council Web site on www.ghba.org. Whomever you choose, always check your contractor’s references and be sure he or she is registered with the Texas Residential Construction Commission.
Founded in 1941, the Greater Houston Builders Association is one of the oldest builders and remodelers associations in the country. The Association represents more than 2,200 member companies and 100,000 employees.  The Association is also active in community and charitable events. Each year members contribute property, materials and labor for the Benefit Homes Project. The majority of the proceeds benefit the Texas Children’s Hospital, the Alzheimer’s Association and HomeAid Houston. Almost $3 million has been raised since the program began 28 years ago. The Remodelors Council also sponsors one or more charitable projects each year. The goals of the Association are to further the awareness of the members and communities of the importance of professional business standards, to enhance the business climate for its members, and to provide quality obtainable housing to the communities it serves.
We hope your remodeling experience is a positive one and your project is everything you hoped it would be.

Kathryn A. “Toy” Wood, JD, CAE
Executive Vice President and CEO
Greater Houston Builders Association
Thanks for choosing the Houston Remodeling Guide as your resource for remodeling needs. Each year this guide is put together by the professionals at The Greater Houston Builders Association Remodelors™ Council and is designed to be the sole source for homeowners in the market for a remodeling project. It is my pleasure to present this guide to you on behalf of the hundreds of member companies that make up the single largest remodeling trade organization in the state of Texas, and one of the largest in the country. Our members include many companies that have won numerous awards on the local, state, and national level.
As a resident of the Houston area you are fortunate to reside in the city with the single largest population of Certified Graduate Remodelors™ (CGR) in the country. The CGR is the highest level of industry certification available in the remodeling field. Within these pages you will find numerous tips and suggestions from the most experienced and professional companies in the Greater Houston area that either remodel homes or support the remodeling industry with their products and services. Each member company is committed to professionalism within the industry and must adhere to a strict code of ethics above and beyond standard business practices. In a sense, our remodeling members are the “A List” of remodeling. Likewise, our Associate members (non-remodelers) are those that supply materials, financial advice, design or decorating services, etc. The Associate members all have one thing in common: They are the companies that the remodeling professionals themselves call for various industry needs. This alone should give you additional piece of mind in any dealings with them.
It is my personal belief that the members of the Greater Houston Builders Asso–ciation Remodelors™ Council are members of the most professional remodeling organization in the country. Each member is dedicated to raising both the business standards and quality of work within the industry. It is my hope that you will enjoy the contents of this guide as much as we have enjoyed preparing it for you.
Happy Remodeling!
